This thing looks like a CD cover!

The idea that there would be national turnout for an event called White Lives Matter seems comical and for the most part it was. It is unclear if there ever was a planned march in Denver - I only saw this and its a counter protest that seems to acknowledge that there might be no white people actually at the march.

There wasn't much to report but there were several planned events for the day.

  1. Nazi Scum Off Our Streets - this appeared to be the similar people to the Soup Drive and the J20 counter protest. Very small turnout, probably because there was not much chance there would be an actual White Lives Matter rally.

  2. Free Julian Assange.

  3. Anti-Burma Coup protest.

The Nazi Scum Off Our Streets group was pretty small. Not much bigger than pictured here. I did not talk to any of them but they are most certainly an antifa aligned group - if they even are an organized group. Here they are in black bloc, just in case they come across any CHUDs.

Her's a look at the Burma group. It grew in size slightly before they went to march through downtown. Not surprisingly, this group remained peaceful throughout. Nice people. Mostly of Burmese origin. The recent military coup in Burma has incited some pretty heavy and violent protests in Burma itself. There are plenty of allegations that oil companies are tacitly approving of the military takeover. I have not researched it. Lots of good mainstream coverage of it.

The photos are of Aung San Suu Kyi - the deposed leader of Burma (Myanmar). She has seen new corruption charges against her in recent days.

Quick clip of Burmese chants.

Denver Police, as we have seen since last summer - provided a courtesy escort to the Burmese marchers as they marched.

...and these black bloc guys seemed to join in on the Burma protest as there were no visible Nazis to be found at the Capitol.

And down the street at Speer and Lincoln, in front of Channel 7 News building, the Julian Assange guys were out in even smaller numbers.

Overall it was not much of anything but more 1st Amendment expression. There were practically no media and the day was nice!

One thing of note is that the antifa aligned groups are still committed to countering any right wing protest groups. The turnout today was pretty small, but I don't think anyone really expected a bunch of maskless white people to be gathering in support of the WLM call to action. I actually think it was more trolling than anything. We've talked about this in prior posts and will continue to monitor future counter protest because those have the greatest likelihood turning into something bad.

Update: With the police shooting incident in Brooklyn Center, MN - there are calls for a solidarity rally this Saturday April 17. We'll be there - rain or shine. Not expecting any real issues, but just in case, if something happens, you'll get our unfiltered view right here.
